Patty here. The last couple of days have been interesting. Yesterday we went on a self guided tour of the Bird Cage Theatre. Tombstone's most authentic attraction. I really liked that. You can see all the bullet holes in the walls, see all the original curtains around the stage, and the original wall paper. Course its all peeling, but its not hard to imagine how it used to look. Lots of famous entertainers played the Bird Cage in the late 1800's. Such as, Eddie Foy and Lotta Crabtree. It was way cool. Then we seen the reenactment of a gun fight. Not the one at O.K. Corral. Not yet. We walked around Tombstone again just people watching for awhile, then we went on a tour of the County Courthouse and seen where the hangings took place. The original hearse that took the dead guys to Boothill was on display at the Bird Cage. It was the only hearse in Tombstone and carried everyone, good and bad, to the cemetery. There were alot of people in Tombstone yesterday. The Viet Nam Vets motorcycle chapters were having a rally all weekend. Felt like we were in Sturgis. Today we took a ride to Gleeson. About 15 miles of dirt road to get to this ghost town/mining town. A few people still live here, but its mostly empty. We met up with a 84 year old guy with his son and daughter-in-law by an old school. This guy just happened to have been born in Tombstone and then moved to Gleeson and lived there and worked in the mines there. It was really neat talking with him. His son had brought him to see his old "stomping grounds" and they had been out riding on 4 wheelers, exploring all the old places. He went to the school we parked in front of. We had a good history lesson. It was a good day.
