Yes, yes, yes, I know. Bonehead and I haven't written since 11/24. The rest of our visit in Portales/Clovis was good. It was fun hanging around with Michelle. We left there on the 28th, heading to Odessa, Texas to see our friends Rhonda and Mike and to pick up mail. Very different country on the way to Odessa. Lots of oil rigs and the smell of oil. Felt like I was in a HUGE open air garage and everyone was changing the oil in their vehicles all at the same time. Oil and cotton. Seen lots of cotton fields. We stayed at the Sam's Club/Walmart parking lot and made full use of our generator. Bonehead did not like it here at all. Dan had parked the rig far away from everything in the end of the parking lot. That was fine. But we happened to park by a small strip of grass (????) and it was full of stickers. Since we've been here in Anthony, I was told they are called goat head stickers. OUCH! Dan didn't wanna turn the 5th wheel around as we would be staring at the whole parking lot and watching the people watching us. Bonehead took one step out the door and she wouldn't step on the sticker grass again. Rhonda and Mike took us out for Chinese food the first night we got there. YUMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They both had to work, so we just hung out and explored Odessa a little bit. On Thursday, 11/30, the big cold front that had been passing over the whole southwest, hit us. It was cold cold cold and WINDY. So windy, that we stowed the satellite and pulled all three slides in. That was quite the experience! We left early, on 12/1 after we picked up our mail, as Rhonda was not feeling well. Dan has had a chest cold for quite awhile now and we didn't want him to get the 24 hour bug or whatever she had. Mike and Rhonda are neat people and we thank them for collecting our mail and taking us out to eat..........We ventured west on I-20 and stayed the night in Pecos, Texas. Sounds like something out of a cowboy movie. Stayed at an Escapee park with full hookups. No more using the generator. Bonehead was happy here. No stickers in her paws. It was all gravel and she could go exploring with Dan...........We are now in Anthony, Texas, exit 2 on I-10. Right on the Texas/New Mexico border. We're camped in an rv park behind the big Camping World. We will be here a week chilling (and I mean CHILLING!), visiting with my "daughter" Angie and her family, and maybe walking over into Mexico again. I can't believe how cold it is! Its bright and sunny out, but BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! We went to Angie's place last night for pizza and to just hang out. Her family is Dalton (10), Tricia (17), and Pat (hubby with cracked ribs and not feeling good right now). Today we are going back for BBQ ribs and to see her other daughter, Melissa (21) and her hubby, Emelio. Last night we had to pull in the living room slides because of another wind storm. I think the whole southwest is a big wind storm! Except for Tombstone. We liked it there. Its rather strange to look southwest and see Mexico. Coming through El Paso you could look over the Rio Grande River and see the depressing places on the hillsides that people had to live in. No wonder people try sneaking over the border all the time........I'll write more later this week.
