Good morning from Patty! Bonehead and I have both been real lazy about writing. Shes just been chillin' and enjoying her walks in the desert. Sometimes she just lays under the desert brush and relaxes. She thinks that life is good out here, even without green grass. We really wanna get a nice piece of sod and put it in a litter box and care for it and water it and cut it so she can have grass to chew on. Silly idea? Maybe........Dan bought a metal detector and Jim from across the road took some of us out into the desert to go treasure hunting. It was interesting and fun. Jim gave Dan tips on how to treasure hunt and we took it from there. Dan's first find was a bullet casing. We'll save that one forever. hahaha...His next find was really cool. Jim helped us find this one by showing us how to sift through the dirt after digging. We came up with a 1902 Indian Head penny. Neat find for the first time out. Dan also found some kind of Chinese token. We have to research that one on the internet. So, now that we have a metal detector, we had to get a digger. I was using a screw driver and heavy spoon and piece of wood. Next time we go out and about, we'll have a digger. Pick on one side and rake type of thing on the other side. I'll feel like a prospector! Dan detects and I start the digging. Dan also walked back into an old mine shaft. Dan just can't resist going into a hole or cave. Glad he came out in one piece! We had a great time. Packed some snacks, tried finding an old town, and checked out an old cemetary. That was a real sad place. Buried out in the desert without any names on the plots. Too sad. Especially the little plot. A baby or small child. I guess life was hard......Kittie and Bruce left to go back home to Oregon. I was sad to see them go, but we'll see them another time.........We took a trip north to Parker to check out the County Park. We were thinking of staying there, but decided not too. So, we went to shopping at Safeway, where there is a Starbucks, and gambled at the casino. Between us, we came out about $70.00 ahead. WOOHOO! Paid for almost all the groceries and lattes!.......We've just been going into Quartzsite and looking at all the new vendors that are setting up. Dan is thinking of getting two tall golf cart batteries and an inverter. Then we can do some stuff without turning on the generator all the time. We were looking at solar panels, but they sure are expensive!. Not sure if we'll get them yet or not. I'll let ya all know what we do. Not having to run the generator all the time will be nice when we're dry camping........We decided to leave here on the 24th. Going to Florence, Arizona and will be there for a month. We chose Florence because it seemed to be centrally located to everything we wanna see. Yes, we'll be back in an rv park, but we chose this one carefully. The spaces are big. Not small like we had at Brenda RV Park. And we'll have full hookups again. I'll let ya know all about that park too, good or bad....Today we have to find someone in Quartzsite that services Direct tv. Something is wrong with the Direct tv part of our satellite. We have a little attachment on the dish that is for our tv and last night something happened to it. We both spent a couple hours on the phone with Direct tv and couldn't solve the problem, so thats on our "to do" list today...........Bonehead says "meow"...... OK. We went into Quartzsite today to take our Direct tv box to be tested. Its ok. The fellow at the testing place told us how to "tweek" everything ourselves so he didn't have to come out and charge us for a service call. Cool. Works for us. We came back and did as he told us and we now are working again. Good deal.......We also decided to go with the solar package. Having options for living in the 5th wheel is a good thing. If we don't wanna be in an rv park, we will have everything we need for dry camping in comfort. I think having solar panels will be neat. Oh! I put a couple of pictures on here that I took of the water bladder in the back of the truck. Its sure is gonna come in handy for hauling our water when we're dry camping!
