Friday, 10/16..........This was a VERY busy day! We got the parade floats finished and some of the guys dyed their hair close to the color it used to be in the "good old days"!!!! I think they had a good time doing that and I was totally amazed at how good they all looked! Soon the police escort showed up to lead the floats to the starting point of the parade. I stood in about the middle of the parade route with Sandy and Judith and we all took pictures as everyone passed by us. It was not only our three floats that were made for the reunion, but the Vets had a float, and kids from the high school had stuff in the parade too. The floats we made for the 50Th class reunion sure did look good! The Starlight Drive-In float The garage float. Remember in a previous blog entry, I was painting on the car. Dan is pulling this float. Starlight Drive-In float. Can ya "hear" the loud 50's music??????? For dinner there was a "tailgate party". Actually everyone brought their own meat to put on the grill and people brought salads, beans, chips, etc. We had already set up all the tables, chairs, decorations, t-shirts to sell, drinks, etc. A lot of people showed up. Now I was hearing.... "hi, how are you?" "hi, who are you?" "hello. oh my god, I didn't recognize you" "hey, do you remember when?" "do you know where so and so is?" "hello. oh, its so good to see you" (then people walk away and they are still trying to think of his or her name) "hello there. its been a lot of years" "damn. I haven't seen you since high school" "hi. lets get a beer" "we were so young and innocent back then" "I knew I was gonna marry him the moment I seen him" "remember the Christmas tree lights that someone "disposed" of?" "remember that car/truck that so and so had?" I just loved hearing everyone saying this stuff as I walked through the people taking pictures......Soon a lot of us headed to the homecoming football game. I do not like football, but I had a good time anyway watching all the people, watching the cheer leaders, taking some pictures, and sometimes paying attention to the game. It was a real long day, but a very good day. ____________________ Saturday, 10/17.......This was another VERY VERY busy day. The dinner and stage show was held out where we were all camping. We had to decorate the stage, set up all the tables and chairs, decorate the tables, set up the beer corner, etc. All the normal stuff to get ready for a big party. Seems like we were all working non-stop for all this to happen. I found myself an extra 15 minutes to hit the shower, then I was back at it again. I took a gazillion pictures, well it felt like that many. I guess a photographer was suppose to show up to take pictures of couples/singles, etc. But, guess what????? No one showed up. I'm a VERY amateur photographer, but I was asked if I'd take pictures. I did with a nice woman named Judith. Between our two cameras we took 3 to 4 pictures of each couple/single. Hopefully there will be one good, usable picture for the memory book that is being made. I also took a lot of random shots, my favorite thing to do. A catered dinner was served with your choice of tri-tip, chicken, potato salad, or green salad and roll. Yummy. Soon after dinner there was a stage show and it was good, funny, just plain hilarious. I do believe that everyone had a good time and a lot of people showed up. You'll just have to believe me that the show was good, people danced, and it looked like everyone had a good time. Here is a few pics of our "showgirls" and a bathtub shot. hahahaha Can you hear the song? "Splish slash I was taking a bath!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Too funny! ____________________ _____________________ Sunday, 10/18.........."Pancake" breakfast in the morning. I actually didn't see pancakes, but lots of other good stuff. Whoever wanted to eat did so, then several people took off for the golf course to hit that funny little while ball into a tiny little hole lots and lots of yards away. As you can tell I'm "not into" golf. Some other people showed up to help take down the stage, take down the awnings, etc. That was great!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sunday wasn't gonna be a "work" day, but people were showing up to help things get done a day early. Let me tell ya, everything sure comes down faster then putting it all up! It was a good thing that volunteers showed up to take the stuff down because of the storm that would hit us later. Theres that bathtub again. It sure gets around!!!!!!!!! We were sitting around the campfire that night debating if the storm off in the distance would "dump on us". Well, it did. We all scattered in different directions to our rigs and we sure did hear and witness one hell of a storm! Kittie and Bruce were gone and had left a roof vent open, so it rained inside their rig. Dick Terry's awning had a fight with the wind. The awning lost. What a storm! We had a few leaks in our rig too. Thank goodness just tiny ones. The rain came down so hard that it was VERY noisy inside our rig. Sounded like hail. I'm sure glad it was just a passing storm and finally died off eventually. ____________________ Monday, 10/19.........Up and at em. The guys fixed the broken awning and Kittie started to try and dry out their rig. We all got "road ready" and were gone by about noon or before. We all had different places to go. Dan and I headed south and only went as far as Corning, CA. Less then 60 miles. hahahahaha.....Not a long travel day. We are parked at Rolling Hills Casino and will be here for maybe 2 or 3 days.
