Our home in the desert.

Friday, 4/2........We never did have high winds. The weather man was way off this time. Fine with us. Today has been a different kind of day so far. I was at the computer this morning when I seen something big and black up the road from us in a palo verde tree. Upon closer inspection I seen that it was a big turkey vulture. Grabbed my camera and out I went to take turkey vulture pictures. I seen three of them sitting in the trees. They were watching me come closer and looked like they were gonna fly off, so I turned around and headed back home, then just zoomed in with the camera for a few shots. They hung around for about a 1/2 hour or so, then they took off. All of a sudden the three birds that I seen became 10. I didn't see all the other birds. They were pretty well hidden I guess. It was amazing to watch all 10 of them circle each other as they were flying south.

Seeing as we are staying around home today, I took off to Blythe, CA to shop at Albertsons. I needed to buy Starbucks espresso! Important to start my day off with a homemade latte. Of course when I got to Albertsons I bought the "real thing" from the Starbucks inside the grocery store. Then on the way back home a swarm of bees hit the truck. Geeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzz. All the airspace out here in the desert and this swarm has to fly west on the wrong side of the road in the outside lane of I-10 while I was driving east. I came home with lots of bee splat on the windshield. Sounded like little pellets hitting the window. Then, (yup, another then),I got home and was sitting in the recliner by the living room window minding my own business when Dan jumped up and grabbed the door and pulled it shut real fast. (The door was open because it was so nice out. Sorry all you people with rain and snow.) Big dust devil headed right for the side of our rig. SMACK! Right into us. Good thing he got the door shut! And we are the only rig sitting here with LOTS and LOTS of airspace around us and you think the dust devil could NOT hit us???????? Nope. "Hmmmmmmm....There is only one rig sitting in this area. Let me aim myself right for the door", says the dust devil. hahahahaha.....Its a little breezy today. Conditions just have been just right to make the dust devil. It came at us so fast that I never would have had a chance to grab my camera. Wonder what will happen next?...........So, this is the end of the day and nothing else has happened. No more desert drama. Tomorrow a quad ride. Its gonna be in the mid 80's. Just right for a ride in the desert to go look for more blooming flowers and crystals.
