Last Friday, the 19th, it actually rained more than 200 drops on the 5th wheel. It POURED! This is the first real rain since we came through Utah back in September. I guess the ground is not like a sponge around here because there is still one huge mud puddle down the road from us. We go around it. Now the truck is not only full of desert sand and grit, we also have this crappy looking mud on the sides of it too. Poor truck probably won't get a bath while we're living in the desert! On Saturday the 20th Dan and I stopped at the RV Pit Stop. I only put this picture on here because its our hangout every few days to get propane and fill up the water bladder. Then Dan, Jim, and Ken (a Canadian neighbor), went to a coin hunt put on by the Quartzsite Metal Detecting Club. I went to watch and did the picture taking. Dan had a good time doing that. He found $6.40 and one special, stamped quarter. It had the number 130 stamped on it and he was able to claim the prize associated with that number. It was a golden nugget worth $15.00. Cool! It was good practice for him. The other two guys found money, but didn't find a stamped quarter. When the hunt was over, Dan and I went back out on the grounds and looked for more coins. We came up with another 95 cents between us. Sometimes I detected and he dug. Sometimes he detected and I dug. This metal detecting thing is fun. Today, Sunday the 21st, we went to one of the big events here in Quartzsite. Its called the "Big Tent". This tent is HUGE! We only just started to look when we had to evacuate. It was REALLY windy today and the wind gusts made the officials nervous I'm thinking. They closed the tent down for the rest of the day. There was all kinds of neat stuff to look at, so we're going back again when we go pick up mail at general delivery on Monday. We leave for Florence this Thursday. We're excited about that. Its been alot of fun being here in the desert dry camping and we've met good people that I know we'll see again, but its time for a change of scenery and more places to go explore. Eventually we'd like to find a place with green grass. Poor Bonehead tries to chew on the brown desert grass and sticks all the time. I know she'll be so happy when we get back up to Idaho to see Chris and Connie on the way home. Lots of green grass to chew on there! Shes not too fond of the wind, so she only went outside twice today. Not much else happening. Just everyday life being retired. Oh! I did try my hand at making tapioca pudding. I don't like it, but Dan loves it. I used the little white pearls and found a recipe on the internet. It must have tasted good because Dan and neighbor Jim sure seemed to like it. I'll be making it for him again soon, I think.
