Hi again from Gold Beach! Tomorrow we leave here for Bandon. Kittie and Bruce, here we come!!!!!!!!!........We went out to the beach yesterday and today. Yesterday was nice but today is nicer. Our door to the rig is open today and it hasn't been warm enough for quite awhile to do that. We drove to the other side of the Rogue River and walked out on the beach there. On the way to the jetty we passed a bunch of little houses. They looked like doll houses from a distance. When we got close we seen that they were cat houses. Every little house had a bowl of water and a food bowl. We seen several cats hanging around but when they seen us coming they hid in the rocks along the water. The sign told us that it was the North Jetty Cats Sanctuary. Established in 1992. Apparently alot of cats are dumped in this area and the town established this place for the strays. There is a locked iron box that is for donations for food for the cats. The sign says that all these cats are adoptable and the water was all fresh, so I guess people must take turns taking care of this small cat community. We couldn't get any of them to come to us. I guess if you were a cat and got dumped cause someone didn't love or want you anymore, you'd be skeptical too. Anyway, we both though it was a great idea and we left a small donation with a note and our card in the locked box........The smelt were "running" and we seen alot of seals going after them. That was interesting. I took some pics of some of the seals sunning themselves. We walked a longs ways on the beach looking for interesting beach stuff. No shells at all, but I picked up some neat rocks.........This is really a nice area. If it was tourist season I'm sure that we would have taken a jet boat ride up the Rogue River. Maybe its a good thing we're here before May 1st because it sure is quiet with very few people around. We both like this RV park so close to the ocean and I'm sure we'll stay here if we pass by here again.....The slide show I put on here doesn't automatically start. Its manual, so click on the arrows to check out the pictures. The first two pics are a view of the RV park from across the bridge over the river. In the second pic you can see our rig real good. The one on the right with the satellite on top. BubbleShare: Share photos - Powered by BubbleShare
