Hello from Yuma, Arizona! Wednesday, 3/4........Dan and I drove to Yuma today. He has an appointment with the dentist at 3pm. We have time to kill so we headed to the closest Starbucks. I finished up using my gift cards. What a nice treat going into Starbucks and I don't have to spend money! WOOHOO for gift cards! Next we headed to the Ford dealership and ordered a new shock for the truck. We'll be picking that up before we leave here. Went to Sam's Club. Always like going there. Picked up some practice bullets at a sporting goods store and then checked in early at Days Inn. Got a decent room that has a two people jacuzzi tub, fridge, and microwave.
I like having a room that has a refrigerator and a good sized one too. We hung out in the motel room for awhile and chowed down on the roast beef sandwiches I had made at home. Then off we went to Algadones to the dentist. We got there about an hour early for Dan's appointment, so I went next door to see the eye doctor. Only $10.00 for an exam! I've been having trouble with my distance, so after the exam, I ordered a new pair of glasses. Thank goodness I didn't need stronger bi-focals yet. Got new frames too. Here is a picture Dan took of me wearing the weird glasses thingy that the doc uses in his exam.
I'll be getting the glasses in about 15 days. If we're still in Quartzsite, maybe we'll drive back to Algadones to pick them up, otherwise, they will be mailed to me wherever we are. Dan got some maintenance work done oh his new teeth and will be coming back to see his lady dentist in October or November, depending on when we get back to Quartzsite. When you walk into Algadones, the streets are just one dentist, doctor, eye-doctor, and pharmacy right after another. Its unbelievable! We left the dentist office and headed to the long line to get out of Mexico. Its really easy to walk in, but it took us 1 1/2 hours to get out. I took some pictures of the line we were standing in, some pretty flowers that are along the fence, and a view of the water on the other side of the fence. Wonder how many "illegal aliens" try and jump into that water. I'm sure some have tried. Sure am glad vendors walk up and down the line selling bottled water!
We FINALLY got through customs and headed to a new casino just up the road from the border. I didn't like it. They didn't have my favorite slots so I wasn't very interested in spending money there.
Thursday, 3/5......Stopped at Starbucks, picked up the shock for the truck, went to Super Walmart, and we were on our way home. Very uneventful drive as it always is between Yuma and Quartzsite. Always nice to get home. We have decided that we're leaving "Q" on March 27th. We'll be starting the "travel adventure" back home to Bremerton, WA. We have other places to stop and people to see, so we should be back home the end of May/first week of June.
