Saturday, 5/16………We left the casino on a nice and sunny day. Gonna be a good travel day. I-5 wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. We only had about 75 miles to drive today. We are now sitting in Steve and Michele’s side yard on their property. Real nice people. Several months ago I had put an ad on Craigslist looking for a place to park our rig so we could go visit Dan’s mom before going to Bremerton for the summer. Michele answered my ad and I’m so glad she did. They are only about 9 miles or so from where Dan’s mom lives at Fountain Court assisted living place. We lucked out and have full hookups. Our satellite doesn’t like it here though. We can’t get internet or tv. There are some big trees in the way and there is no way the satellite can “see” through them. Michele and Patty........Gee, I sure an short!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I am typing my blog on Microsoft Works Word Processor and will do the “copy and paste” thing when I can get online to my blog again. I might be able to access the WiFi where Dan’s mom lives. We’ll see. We do have tv now after Steve tapped into his Dish Network and connected us up to him. Woohoo Steve for giving us tv!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank goodness cause Dan is watching the NASCAR All-Star Race. I’m so glad that Michele decided to answer my ad. I think she was a little reluctant at first cause she didn’t know us or anything about us. I’m grateful that she had been reading my blog for a couple of months now so she had an idea that we are “ok people”. Not many people would open their yard up to someone they’ve never met. Thank goodness for people like Michele and Steve. Its kind of noisy cause they are a much used road, but that’s ok. And, we can’t believe the weather today! Its been so nice outside. Its actually 77 degrees outside right now and its 7:15pm!!!!!!!!!!! Most wonderful weather! Sunday, 5/17………Today we went to see Mary, Dan’s mom. She lives at Fountain Court, an assisted living/senior place, in Maple Valley, WA. She didn’t know we were coming so she was quite surprised. We never told her exactly what day we’d be in. What a nice place this is as compared to where she was living in Bellingham, WA. This is my opinion only! I was impressed. She showed us her room and all around the grounds. They eat their main meal in the middle of the day, so we joined her in the dining room. The tables all had regular linens. Cloth napkins. I like that. There was a menu for the the day on the table and people came to you for your choice of food for the meal. The people that live here were being waited on, which was nice. And the food was good. Its a two story building and nicely furnished. Anyway, I liked what I seen. After we ate, off we went, out and about. We first headed to Fred Meyers. I needed to buy some groceries and Mary wanted to go look for some shoes. After going there, we hit the Starbucks across the street. YUM! We took our groceries home where we are parked, then went for a ride around the area. Dan’s dad used to own property in the area, so off we went to find it. Dan and I had been out looking at the property about 7 years ago when out riding on the Harley, and it was all woods. Now there are HUGE expensive houses all around in the woods on 5 acre plots. What a difference! I would hate having to clean one of these houses and take care of the well manicured lawns! It’s a pretty area and with the houses on acreage, you don't have that "closed in feeling". On the way back into town I took a bunch of pictures of Mt. Rainier from the truck. Even being taken through a truck window, they turned out pretty good. As much as I love being in the desert, Mt. Rainier is awesome enough to take your breath away. Heaven help the people that live in it’s shadow, cause if it ever decides to really “wake up”, they would be in a lot of trouble with the lava flows. Before we headed back to Mary’s home, we made a stop at Arbys for reuben sandwiches for them and a bacon/cheddar for me. Then she wanted ice cream and seeing as we couldn’t find the Dairy Queen, we hit the Baskin & Robbins. Dan and his mom both went for yummy ice cream. Not me. By time we took her back home, I think she was pretty full of food! We hung out in her room for awhile, then I headed to the “community” computer, unplugged the connection and plugged it into my laptop. By time I had checked my email, Dan and Mary came to where I was to look at some of the pictures I’ve taken during our travels. Then I hooked the “community” computer back up and Dan and his mom got into her email and he gave her some “using email lessons”. I think its great that she’s trying to learn how to use the computer. By time we got back home it was almost 11pm. It was a long day. Monday, 5/18………We had a lazy morning. It was grey and overcast. I sat outside this morning with Michele whos yard we are parked in. We were looking at all the rocks that I brought back from Quartzsite. I have a bunch of them. We had a good time doing that……Soon it was time for Dan and I to head out to see his mom again. We picked her up and headed to Walmart so she could look at buying some shoes and peddle pushers. Then we headed to the local Dairy Queen. Shes been dying to get something from the “DQ”. In the afternoon, the sun came back out. Always love seeing the sun. It turned out to be a nice day after all. For dinner I had made a crab/pasta salad. Steamed some asparagus, had some french bread and banana bread. Tuesday, 5/19………Rather a lazy day until we went to see Mary in the afternoon. We hung out at her place until Dan’s brother Ed showed up. We visited with him for awhile. We hadn’t seen Ed in about 4 years or so. I snapped lots of pictures. Soon it was time for him to leave and Dan, I, and Mary all headed off to have dinner at a Mongolian grill. It was very tasty. We came back to her place and I used the “community” computer’s connection to hook up my laptop so I could take care of mail. Not enough time to work on my blog, so I just keep writing in Word Perfect on the pc in the 5th wheel and in a word processor program on the laptop. I’ll eventually put all entries together when we get to my mom’s house and I have my internet connection back. It was a good day except for the pouring rain. Wednesday, 5/20………Today Audrey, Dan’s youngest daughter, came to see us with her kids. Caleb/13.….Nicholas/almost 5.….Tiffany/almost 3. They met us at Dan’s mom’s place in the afternoon after Caleb got out of school. Let me tell ya, Nicholas and Tiffany are “busy” little kids. They are too funny. They sure wore us out! We had hamburgers, crab salad, cold slaw, banana bread, chips, beans, strawberry/rhubarb pie, and watermelon. It was quite yummy. Audrey and the kids hung out until about 8pm. They had to get home cause Caleb had school tomorrow. It was a long day, but a good one. And it didn’t even rain. We were able to take the kids outside to run around for awhile. We all had a good visit. Papa and Caleb Caleb and Great G'ma Nicholas and Great G'ma Tiffany Audrey and Dan the Dad Nicholas in action Papa and Tiffany Tiffany and Nicholas...Hmmmm...I see tongues.
