I love the date today on the blog. 1/11/11. Cool. Out for another nice quad ride. We ventured to the north side I-10 and west to the Goodman Mine. This is a most excellent quad ride as there are lots of quartz veins in the hills to explore and other mines in the area if you go off the main trail to look for them. It is believed that early pioneer Angela Scott and her family lived in this small two room rock cabin at the mine. I can't imagine driving, probably a buckboard wagon, all the way to this mine on the quad trail we followed "back in the day". Its quite a steep trail getting to the cabin on the last hill and I'm thinking that she had to leave her wagon at the bottom of the hill and either walk or ride a horse or mule or whatever to get to her cabin. What a chore it would have been to live in this place. Of course she didn't know any different, but still. With kids and her wearing long dresses. I'm not sure where she got water. UGH! It doesn't look like Dan is up high in the mountains, but he is. The Saguaro cactus is about half again as tall and the hill side is steep. There is a mine shaft in back of him. The hill has tiny trails that the miners used but we couldn't get our quad on any of them or figure out how to reach them. He is looking at a beautiful view. You can see all the way west to the Colorado River and to Blythe, California. Fantasic views. This guy looks big but he isn't. He was sitting on a rock that was part of Angela Scott's cabin. He was trying to "blend in" and doing a good job of it when you're not looking at him close up. I zoomed all the way in on him and "made him grow" into a monster. LOL LOL LOL LOL
