9/29...We are on the road again. We arrived in McMinnville, Oregon to get the work done on our rig. The place we need to be is called Zieman. We arrived early, found it, and talked to the general manager before finding a place to stay for the night. Dan found all our new parts and I took a picture of him checking them out. Stayed at Mulkey RV Park, a nice "mom and pop" park that is close by to Zieman. 9/30.....Happy Birthday to my granddaughter Trista who is 17 today! Got up early dropped our rig off at 7am, then headed to Starbucks. We will be getting brand new axles, springs, and front landing/jack assembly. Came back later in the day to pick up our home after a day of exploring around McMinnville. Dan and the general manager were not satisfied with everything that had been done as our rig now sat a couple inches too high. Tomorrow will be another work day on our home. Not a bad little town. We went to see the Spruce Goose. You know. Howard Hughes' big "white elephant". Or, Howard Hughes' flying boat. It did fly once for about a mile over water. It is on display here in McMinnville at the Evergreen Aviation Museum. It is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was a really neat place. If you like anything to do with flying, you would love seeing this place. You can read about the Spruce Goose at www.sprucegoose.org We also went to the Imax theater, put on our 3-D glasses, and watched a show about putting together the space station. It was a cool short movie. 10/01.....Today the rocker arms are being replaced so our rig will be 2 inches lower. With all the measurements being done, things still were not correct. I think the head guy here is rather puzzled. Yesterday one of his employees broke one of the back stabilizers, so today they are replacing that. They also are replacing both step assemblies as it was noticed that they were installed improperly by Lippert when our rig was built 2 1/2 years ago. Now we have new rounded corner or radial steps at both doors. Cool. Lippert is the company that built the frame and axles for our rig. Now they are "making right" on everything that was messed up in the first place. Things that we've been fighting to get fixed since the beginning of last summer, 2007. They should be done today fixing and repairing everything. You can be assured that there will be alot of measuring happening when we go back to get our home. We've just been messing around today, killing time. I got online a couple of times when we were sitting by a Starbucks. I was able to use a T-Mobile hotspot. Now we're sitting at Zieman watching them finish up working on our rig. No WIFI here. I'm typing this in WordPad and will copy and paste into my blog later. Yesterday we had the most excellent meatball sub when we were at the museum at the Spruce Goose Deli, so we went back there again today for another. We picked up our rig and everything seems to be fine so far. We both love the new steps! No more sharp corners. They are rounded. I've hit my legs many times on the sharp corners. No more. Now we are headed to Valley RV Center here in McMinnville to have our generator serviced. Before we left home Dan had tried to fire it up just to test it out and it had an error code. One that means it has to be serviced by an Onan technician. Thats ok. Its still under warranty. We are staying at tonight at Valley RV where we're getting our generator serviced. They have several spots where we can hook up to electric. 10/02........Well, here we are sitting in the Valley Diner at Valley RV. Its a neat diner with lots of stuff from the 50's and 60's. Just like an old fashioned diner when I was a kid. There is a jukebox right here at the table. Ya don't see things like that anymore. Well, I take that back. I've seen them sitting on tables in some truck stops. Its nice that we have a fun place to sit and wait instead of sitting in some dreary lobby. And I'm using their WIFI to write in my blog. Cool. I can look out the window and see this tiny teardrop trailer. I can't even imagine going camping in something so small. But then again, I don't like "tenting" so I'm sure I'd like it better then sleeping on the ground. ha! Not sure how long we'll be here. At least a few hours. I know that they have already did something to our fridge as it has a recall on it......It is now 12:30pm. Since we were already here, the RV people were gonna get us in before our 10am appointment. Guess what? 10am came and went. So did 11am. Hmmmmmmmm. We've been watching how the workload is going here. Not heavy at all. Dan finally walked over to the office to ask someone if we had been forgotten. OOPS! The response was, "Oh, I thought someone had taken it into the garage and was working on it". HA! They must be blind because our rig is out in plain sight just sitting there waiting to get worked on. Were we forgotten? I'd say, YES! I was liking this place too. Oh well. Demerits for this place. Having to wait because a business is back-logged in work is understandable. No problem there. Stuff happens. But having to wait because they FORGET you is not very good business.........Dan finally got an answer of what is wrong with our generator. It needs a new fuel filter which has been ordered. It will be coming here via UPS tomorrow, 10/03. I'm not sure if we'll get out of here tomorrow. Depends on when UPS shows up. We just might spend another night here in the parking lot. We had a couple of small storms pass over us today. Poured rain. Looks rather dreary outside right now. Dan is watching the Vice Presidential debate. Guess I'll go watch with him.
