Hi everyone! I've been sooooooooooooooo busy! Hope everyone had a good New Years! We sure did. New Year's Eve day Dan took a bunch of people out to General Patton's Proving Ground. Out where there are some sand dunes to play on. I didn't go this time because I was baking for the New Year's Eve bash in the desert. And Dan didn't take the camera. They came home all dusty and had smiles on their faces, so I know they had a good ride. Everyone went their separate ways until out "bash". Dinner, snacks, and drinks around the bonfire. We had a good time. One of the guys there, Jerome, set up his karaoke machine and lots of us sang. There was dancing and Dan and Canadian Jim shot off their potato guns. Lots of "senior citizens" having a blast!!!!!!!!!!!! Here are pictures I took that day and night. Party animals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahaha!!!!!! New Year's Day Jeanette made everyone breakfast. She made biscuits in dutch ovens over the hot coals from the bonfire. They were yummy. Bruce and Kittie made the eggs/hash browns/etc dish. We were all very happy and full. Then alot of us went out riding on the quads again. We drove to the places where General Patton's troops camped. Company A, B, and D. You can see in one of the pictures where the rocks are all laid out in walkways. This is where the troop's tents were set up. History, history, history. I wrote about this before and I don't know why there wasn't a Company C. We all had another good ride. Came back and Jeanette surprised us with dinner made over the fire. She had some tri-tips and they sure were yummy cooked over the open fire. We all contributed our leftovers from the night before and it became another fantastic meal. Seems like that alot of what we do. Eat,eat, eat!!!!!! 1/2/09........2009! Can you believe it? Wow! A bunch of us went back out on the quads again today. We went back out to the dunes where Dan was a couple of days ago except we came back a different way. I love it out in the desert. I love how open it is. Dan got on Ron's quad and ran it up a couple of the dunes. He came flying up over one but I missed getting him in mid-air. I did manage to get him a little bit off the ground. On the way back Dan took us through a tunnel that goes under I-10. Its just big enough to get the quad through and we both have to bend over sideways keeping our heads down the whole time while driving through the tunnel. Its fun. Today, 1/3, a bunch of us went to Parker, AZ. We had a caravan going. We headed to the Nellie E Saloon (Desert Bar) about 5 miles off the main highway, out in the middle of nowhere. It used to be a mine but now its a bar in the desert. It was a VERY dusty ride to and from. There was a live band there, plenty of things to drink, and food. All among the rocky hills in the desert. It was interesting. http://www.thedesertbar.com/ Now go into the site and read. Its quite a unique place. On the way home we stopped by the casino to eat at the buffet and "try our luck". I put in the regular 20 bucks that I usually spend and came out ahead 40 bucks. Dan didn't spend his 20 and I didn't spend it for him. I cashed in and quit while I was ahead! 40 bucks ahead is a good thing. Then we stopped by Safeway cause there is a Starbucks there. Anyone who knows me is very aware that I love my Starbucks latte and I have 3 gift cards from Christmas. "Venti skinny vanilla latte w/2 packs of sweet and low". hahahahahaha...YUM!!!! It was another good day spent with good people.
