HI SANDY AND DENNIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know you've been reading the blog. We all miss you not being here! Thursday, 1/8. A bunch of us went out on the quads again. One of the guys, Jerome, had borrowed a quad and ended up having a flat tire. The "Fix-a-Flat" wouldn't work cause the sealant in the can was too cold. Ron tried holding the can up to his exhaust pipe to warm it up. I thought that was a different idea. That was a "guy" idea cause I wouldn't have thought of that. hahaha! It didn't work though. The guys managed to get the tire aired back up by using a small air pump. That didn't work too good. Then Bruce got out some C-O2 containers and blasted them into the tire and it "aired" up. It worked!!!! Woohoo! We were on our way again. Jerome's tire was ok the rest of the time. Everyone wanted to go back to the dunes to play around. Everyone took their rig up and down the dunes, playing around. We all had a great time. It was one of the longest times we had been out riding. We came back home and had leftover chili and salad from the night before. YUMMY!!!!!!!!!! We ate when sitting around the campfire. We've had a campfire almost every night. Everyone chipped in money and the guys went out and bought a whole bunch of wood. Friday, 1/9. What a WINDY day! We didn't go out on the quads. A bunch of us went to town to check out the vendors. I think everyone bought at least one thing. I found some #9 Kasey Kahane stud earrings. I like them. Yeah for the #9 car!!!! We all finally got tired of the wind beating the crap out of us. The dust was really blowing into some of the vendor's booths and it just got to be too much. After awhile it wasn't fun anymore walking around. We ended up going to Silly Al's Pizza for pizza, beer, and ice tea. Sure was nice to get out of the wind. We couldn't have a fire because of the wind. This was the first time we haven't had a campfire since everyone got here for New Year's Eve. Saturday, 1/10. Dan and the guys went out riding today. Boys day out on the quads. Carol took us girls out a tour of Quartzsite. Here we all are doing our best "showbiz" pose. Carol,Diane,Jean,Kathy,Me Patty, and Kittie. We went to what I call, "the naked guy bookstore". Actually its called Reader's Oasis Bookstore and run by the nicest man, Paul, which just happens to be a nudist. He really has alot of neat books. After the bookstore we went out to Celia's Rainbow Garden which happens to be Paul's daughter that passed away at a young age. The garden is dedicated to her. You can make memorials to your loved ones here. Its really a nice place, all in the memory of a young girl. http://www.celiasrainbowgardens.com/ You can read about it on this web site, although the gardens have been updated and this site doesn't look likes its been updated for awhile. It will still tell you about the gardens and about Celia. From there we went to the Hi Jolly cemetery and walked around. Last stop for "girl's day out" was the museum. http://www.quartzsitemuseum.com/. HI AGAIN DENNIS AND SANDY. LOOK! FERNDALE! Kitte is paying you a visit! It was an interesting place as most museums are...........We came back to our campsite and we all went our different ways. The guys weren't back from their quad ride yet. Soon they all came back except David. Somehow he took a wrong turn along the way back and became separated from the group. Dan and Bruce went back out looking for him. They retraced their path and went 22 miles trying to find him. In the mean time, Dave found someone to ask where he was. They pointed him in the right direction and he soon came driving into camp. I called Dan and let him know that Dave had made it back safe and sound and soon Dan and Bruce were back in camp too. Then we all just sat around the campfire under a full moon enjoying Jean's chili and all the rest of the pie Dave had bought. YUM! It was a pretty good day for everyone I think. Even with Dave being lost for awhile. The guys really "razzed" him around the fire. All in good fun. Sunday, 1/11........A bunch of us went for another quad ride today. It was a most excellent day. The weather was good and it wasn't windy. We rode to what the "locals" around here call the "footprint". Suppose to be some ancient "person footprint". Thats all I know about it. I never walked into the gully to check out the footprint. Just took pictures of everyone else. It was a fun ride to and from the area. The ground is very dry so it was REALLY dusty. Everyone got covered with dust, dust, and more dust except Dan and I cause we were out front being the leaders. We came back, went out to eat some BBQ, then came back and sat around the campfire for awhile. What a nice day. Monday, 1/12........Almost the same bunch of people went for another quad ride today. This was the last ride before 5 people leave. We'll miss them ALOT! We drove out to the Indian Lookout, Stagecoach Station Ruins, and the Southern Cross Mine. All three are in the same area. I can't believe there was a stage stop at this place. It was an absolutely beautiful drive. After the rains we had last month, the desert is green. There are even some flowers blooming. You can see our "healthy" lunch on the front of one of the quads. hahahaha....Snacks. We came back and sat around for not very long then we were off to Silly Al's Pizza for dinner. Here is Dan, Diane, and Jerome having fun. After dinner we came back fat and full to sit around another great campfire built by Dan the man. Tuesday, 1/13........Well, 5 people left here this morning. Kittie/Bruce, Ron/Jean, and David. We'll sure miss them. Our camp is getting smaller. After they left, Dan and I headed to town to do laundry and get water and propane. Normal stuff. Back to normal everyday life again. We'll probably go back out on our quad in the next couple of days. This weekend is the weekend of "The Big Tent". There is a huge tent set up here in Quartzsite and a gazillion vendors will be in there selling everything and anything. I'll take some pictures of it. We will go at least once to check everything out and pick up anything free that the vendors are passing out. Free is always good. Because of this event, the people are pouring in. Lots and lots of rigs of all shapes and sizes coming into town. I needed to run back out to the grocery store this afternoon and was gonna go on the quad, but traffic just sucks and I felt safer in the truck. People that come to Quartzsite drive crazy. No one watches when they back out of parking places. Especially in the Post Office. Town will be booming for the next couple of months with all the stuff happening.
